I left my home on tobacco road,

burned my bridges and buried my load.

Broke my back workin' down the rail,

made my bed in the rain and hail.

All my life I've laughed too l-l-l-l-loud.

Well I tried my best but my patience ran out.

Lack of love and money that's what I'm all about.

Told my landlord I'd pay his rent,

When my old lady had all of the money spent.

I broke the bank and filled up my van,

hit the road like some wanted man.

Well alright, I come about face.

I got nobody left to plead my case.

Just this knuckle welt upside my head,

Got no roses in my bed.

So baby leave on the light

sit down while I make up my mind

To sign up on your dotted l-l-l-l-l-line.

Oh well I been in jail but I fought the law

I sank my teeth into that chain and ball

I drank my water ate my bread and dust

Ain't no way in God I trust.

All my life I've always laughed too l-l-l-l-l-loud

instr.

Well I been makin boxes out a nickel and tin

pluggin' every corner up where I crawled in

does anybody got a light for my smoke?

Life I been living God it ain't no joke!

So send me your bibles, lend me a hand

Give me my papers and take back your pans

I'll sign up, on the dotted line

where everybody's happy all the time

yeah, I close my eyes, blow my mind.

I'll sign baby!

I sign up, on the dotted line, just take it all, hey,

I don't mind, I'll just sign! Whooo!
